Outdoor Weddings At Slater’s

If you are planning on an outside wedding ceremony you are probably our kind of person. There is something so special about being surrounded by nature whilst making your vows to one another. Living in the UK we can’t always guarantee perfect weather for an outdoor wedding ceremony, however in those 3 magical months of the year (July, August & September) here at Slater’s, half of our wedding ceremonies are held outside under our wedding gazebo.
Here are some useful tips to remember when looking to plan an outside wedding ceremony.
Have a contingency plan.
Depending on your venue, wedding planners will be able to make the call up to the day before the event whether you will have to hold your ceremony indoors. Here at Slater’s Weddings we always ensure our wedding house is ready for action should the weather take a turn for the worst.
Be sure to advise your guests that the ceremony is outdoors.
Beautiful nature and warm weather usually means a high pollen count. There is nothing worse than one of your guests sneezing their head off whilst you and your beloved are making those all important promises to one another. If you give your guests the heads up, they will remember to pop a piriton before the ceremony. Aaaand relax! Also, if the ceremony is being held on grass you can advise your guests to dress accordingly.
Consider shade.
Every bride or groom would hope for glorious sunshine at their outside wedding ceremony but the last thing you want is to be squinting your eyes at the sunlight whilst getting married. Be sure that your venue has a good amount of shade in the spot where you will stand together. A wedding gazebo or canopy is ideal. You may also want to bear in mind your guests getting overly hot. A good tip is to provide some fans for your guests (these make great wedding favours too!)
Consider the natural surroundings when working with your florist and venue dresser.
It is a good idea to ask your venue what kinds of flowers or plants will be in bloom around the outside ceremony space at that specific time of year. Check out the venue’s social media pages for pictures or speak to your wedding coordinator who will be able to advise you of this. Ensuring you coordinate your floral designs with the natural landscape will keep your backdrop fluid for photography and really embrace your outside surroundings.
